A Trip to the Tropics
Every once in a while I get a call from my mate Patrick Duffy of Cleverfool Creative to go and work with him. The thing about Patrick's gigs are they always involve a whole lot of characters and a bit of time in Australia. This time was no exception - off we went to work with a bunch of Ford Australia's top sales and service managers in Port Douglas, North Queensland.
We got to do plenty of fun things - including snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef - but the most satisfying part of the trip were the characters we were able to create and the response we got from the team on the trip. It was a small bunch and with small groups it can be a bit of a challenge, especially if you are spending a few days with them. A bit of experience and nouse is required to make sure that you get th group on side and entertined without becoming white noise. We had a great group and an enormous amount of fun with them!
On a trip where I got to eat Kangaroo, Camel, Croc and Emu I also got to play: an Outback Adventurer, a mousey spinster, a German backpacker, a hillbilly, a Salsa instructor and the captain of a dive charter and a gangster's muscle
There were some fantastically unpredictable moments during the trip one of the highlights being on the final night when the musician hired for the night and I managed to improvise a medley of songs about various of the guys on the trip using styles of music given to us from the group. It was an amazing little moment and proves that if you are always open to things happening there can be an unforgettable moment just around the corner!
